Each team has a fundraising minimum between $360 and $500 (levels are set locally, by event). No problem, eh? Well that’s the just the minimum!
Prizes will be awarded to the top fundraiser as well as the top fundraising team, both nationally and locally. To help you raise funds here are nine Quick and Easy Fundraising Tips. All funds raised support Boys and Girls Clubs programs in your community.
1. Fundraise online
Register online to make fundraising easy! Set your goal and create a personal fundraising page. By customizing your personalized fundraising page, your fundraising opportunities are limitless! Your friends and family can donate from virtually anywhere in the world - asking is just a click away.
2. Be committed
Make the first pledge yourself! When your friends, family and colleagues see your name and contribution, they will appreciate how committed you are.
3. Set a goal
Set individual and team fundraising goals and make them public! Challenge your team to be the Top Fundraising Team. Don’t forget to track and share your progress with current and potential donors. Many people will donate a little bit more if they know you’re close to your goal! Ask people to give the amount needed to advance you to the next $50, $100 or even $1,000 milestone.
4. Promote yourself
Make sure everyone you in your social circles about your commitment! Add your personal fundraising link to your email signature. Update prior supporters of any additional events you’re doing to help raise funds for Capital One Race for Kids and Boys and Girls Club.
5. Educate donors
Potential donors may not know about Boys and Girls Clubs. Be prepared to educate them about the organization and how donated funds are put to good use. You can find more details at www.bgccan.com. Don’t forget to share your own story if you’ve got one!
6. Tell a friend...
Have a wide network of friends and family? Leverage your relationships to extend support of kids in your community, by approaching family members, friends, work colleagues and other social contacts to see if they would be interested in supporting your Race for Kids participation. Don't forget to add a contribution jar on your desk or at work - every dollar helps!
7. Get matching gifts
Contact your Human Resources department to find out if your company has a corporate matching gift program to double the value of your personal contribution. Make sure each team member asks their company as well, as it's an easy way to double your total!
8. Involve friends!
At a gathering, it can be fun, easy and quick to generate funds from a number of contacts! Ask your personal contacts for donations that you could raffle off. A paid vacation day from your employer could be a popular draw. Get together with friends, neighbours or co-workers and host a garage or bake sale, a penny drive, a BBQ, a fun tournament – whatever appeals to you and your close circle of friends! 9. Thank your donors
Make sure to follow up and thank those who have helped you reach your goals! Thank them instantly via email as they pledge you. Follow up with a letter/e-mail after your event to share highlights, pictures and how their donation is making a difference. Get the ball rolling and thank them in advance for their continued support next year.
